Perinatal Services Closure
San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital (SGMH) hereby provides notice that it intends to discontinue licensed inpatient Obstetrical Services effective December 31, 2026. The closure includes labor and delivery, postpartum services, newborn nursery services, and related obstetrical support services at 600 N. Highland Springs Avenue, Banning, California 92220.
The proposed elimination will result in the removal of fifteen (15) licensed perinatal beds. Fifteen (15) employees are currently assigned to the department. SGMH intends to retain affected employees whenever possible through reassignment and other workforce transition opportunities.
Alternative providers include: Desert Regional Medical Center, Palm Springs; Redlands Community Hospital, Redlands; and Loma Linda University Medical Center–Murrieta. These hospitals accept Medicare and Medi-Cal beneficiaries. Patients should verify participation with their specific health plans.
Active patients will receive assistance transitioning care. Medical records are available through Health Information Management at (951) 769-2146.

The Women’s Center at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning is a 15,000-square-foot facility specializing in the health of women of all ages. The Women’s Center provides birthing, diagnostic, surgical and preventive medicine services in a patient-friendly environment. Women in the pass area now have the convenience of a facility “close to home,” a facility second to none, staffed by experienced OB/GYN physicians, nurses and support personnel.
